Virginia: Trauma Tapper, Clinically Certified EFT PR actioner, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Trauma Therapist Chesterfield County Jail.

As a therapist, in the mental health field in Richmond, Virginia for the last 25 years it took my own personal tragedy to recognize that I did not have all the tools I needed to deal with trauma. Traditional therapy was just not enough. It wasn’t until a friend told me about an experience with tapping that I realized the body’s amazing ability to heal and release trauma.

I went on to complete a clinical certification in EFT with EFT Universe and a certification in Trauma Tapping with the Peaceful Heart Foundation. Tapping has become the most powerful tool to my treatment toolbox. In my work with children, I often find talking unnecessary and Trauma Tapping such a value tool. While working in a school, I witnessed daily the power of tapping to help regulate children and create peaceful climates in the classroom.

After losing my son to an accidental overdose at 20 years old, I found myself working in the Chesterfield County Jail in the HARP (Heroin Addiction and Recovery Program) program with people who had a great deal of trauma, and all struggle with a Substance Use Disorder. I use tapping every day and am just in awe of how quickly it works and the power it has to relax the nervous system, which is key to mental health and balance. I have a private practice in addition to my work in the jail and specialize in trauma, addiction, grief and loss, anxiety, and mood disorders. I also advocate and speak about the stigma that surrounds addiction and mental illness and the work we have left to do to put a dent into the drug epidemic here in the United States.
